Sometimes strength is only a facade. Pain can reside so deep inside others don’t realize that tears often well up in your eyes. They don’t know you’re longing for privacy so you can release. They don’t know the act of releasing those tears leads to even more pain and confusion. Now you’re upset with yourself for being upset at all. You don’t know why these tears fall so heavily from your eyes. All you feel is the fear that someone will notice.
You know the questions will come. What’s wrong? Why are you crying? You’re depressed? How long has this been happening? Next comes the advice . Shake it off. Suck it up. You’ll be all right Pray. You need to see a doctor they all say. You want to scream Don’t you think I would if I could? Pray? You pray all day. You tell yourself everything will improve. Just be patient. You know the glass is not half empty. Its half full. What happens if the glass breaks? Heartache, fears and tears. The cycle continues.
